General Conference

Sunday Morning Learning Sessions
Beginning August 4, 10:15-10:45am, McAdams Hall

For some weeks now, you’ve been seeing an announcement on sessions to discuss the three conferences that happened this year: General Conference, Annual Conference, and the Southeastern Jurisdictional Conference.

Beginning August 4 at 10:15-10:45am in McAdams Hall (120), we’ll
gather to learn more about the decisions made, the experience of our
delegates, and new directions for the United Methodist Church. We
anticipate meeting for several Sundays. Each session will cover a different conference and information, so plan to attend each week!

Graeme Donovan, St. Paul delegate to Kentucky Annual Conference, has written a report on the event. Read Graeme’s report here.

New Bishop

The Kentucky Annual Conference will have a new bishop starting Sept. 1.

David Graves, currently serving as bishop of the Alabama-West Florida and South Georgia conferences, was assigned to the new episcopacy area of Kentucky, the Central Appalachian Missionary Conference, and the Tennessee-Western Kentucky Conference. The new area will formally be known as the Kentucky-Tennessee Episcopal Area.

Bishop Leonard Fairley, who has served in Kentucky since 2016, was assigned to the South Carolina Conference.

The General Conference of the United Methodist Church convened April 23-May 3 in Charlotte, NC. Pastor Darren attended in his capacity as the Kentucky Conference Secretary. Retired pastor Tom Grieb, who has placed his charge conference at St. Paul, was one of the Kentucky Conference delegates to General Conference.
