Our Mobile Resource Center provides resources to guests at Fourth Avenue UMC’s Open Door Community Ministry. We load up the St Paul bus and distribute new underwear, socks, and t-shirts, gently-used shoes and clothing, hygiene items, and food to those in need. So far, we have served approximately 60-80 people at each event. As of June 2025, the Mobile Resource Center has been serving ODCM guests for four years, and we have added prayer support and a Little Library to our offerings.

Please enjoy this video about the evolution of the Mobile Resource Center:

Volunteer!

WE NEED YOU! We need at least 20 volunteers at each Mobile Resource Center for it to run as smoothly as possible.

Volunteers will help with set-up and tear-down, as well as distributing our resources to Open Door’s guests. We also need a few volunteers to help load and unload the bus before and after the event.

If you would like to volunteer to help with this event, please sign up here:

Can’t volunteer? You can still help! We always needs donations (both financial and physical).

To make your donation shopping a little easier, you can purchase from our wish lists, which will ship the items directly to the church:

Visit our Amazon Wish List here.

Or you can drop off new or gently-used items in the Resource Center donations bins in the Family Life Center lobby or the elevator lobby in the main building. Items we typically need at our Mobile Resource Center include the following (some of which can be found in the wish lists above):

Lightweight jackets and sweaters in fall and winter

Coats, hats, gloves, and long underwear (all sizes) in winter

Short- and Long-sleeved t-shirts, especially for men

Men’s jeans and shorts – all sizes

Sturdy shoes and boots, especially for men

Baseball caps and sun hats in summer

Sunscreen and insect repellent in summer

Deodorant

Toothpaste and dental floss

Disposable razors

Body soap (bar soap or body wash)

3-in-1 Body Wash

Shampoo and Conditioner

A few glimpses of the MRC over the years. When we started in 2021, Covid was still an issue so we had to set up outside on the sidewalk. Now, we are in the lovely parlor, which serves us well.
