2026 Interfaith Build – St. Paul’s 16th Habitat House
In August 2026, St. Paul will partner with 7 other churches to build a home for Jerome and Anesie at 6508 Lower Hunters Trace.
Raise the Roof: August 12-14
Jerome and Anesie have been married since 2015 and are the proud parents of six children, three boys and three girls, who bring joy, energy, and purpose to their lives. Jerome is originally from Burundi and came to the United States in 2013 through Kentucky Refugee Ministries. Anesie is from the Congo and arrived in the U.S. with her family as refugees in 2007. The couple met at a friend’s party in Nashville, Tennessee, and have been building their lives together ever since. As a family, they enjoy simple time together, relaxing at home, spending time outside, going to restaurants, and attending church. Their faith and family bonds are at the center of their lives.
They currently live in a crowded apartment complex in Shively where they have faced many challenges with neighbors and noise. Their children often ask Anesie, “Mama, when are we going to get a new house? We are tired of being here.” Wanting a place they can truly call their own peaceful, safe home where their children can grow and one day inherit, they began exploring homeownership.
They began considering homeownership because of a friend who is a Habitat Homeowner. Anesie’s parents are also Habitat homeowners in Nashville, which encouraged them even more to apply. This was their first time applying to the program.
Anesie was at work when she received the call that they had been accepted. Overcome with joy, she screamed in excitement.
For Jerome and Anesie, HOME means life beginning again, a new start and a new future for their family.
The first thing they plan to do in their new home is pray and thank God for the opportunity, thank Habitat, and then share a big meal with family, friends, and members of their church.

St Paul’s 15th habitat house
St. Paul was a partner in Habitat for Humanity’s 2025 “Methodist Build.” As in the past, St. Paul partnered with St. Matthews UMC and other United Methodist churches. The house was the 15th Habitat for Humanity house St. Paul UMC has been involved in building!
We raised our share of the cost of construction which totaled $15,000. Thank you to everyone who contributed and is participating in the build.

April 30, 2022: Dedication Day for Ardo Samriye’s house!
Members of the three Methodist churches have joined the Dream Team to bring Ardo’s house at 3817 1/2 Oboe Drive from the Raise-the-Roof in October to a near completion with a dedication taking place April 30. It has been gratifying to work with the partner family and to contribute to building a home for Ardo and her family. Thanks to all of you who gave and helped with the house.
