Bible Study: Jeremiah and Lamentations

Bible Study: Jeremiah and Lamentations

Sunday Morning Bible Study: Jeremiah and Lamentations
Beginning September 6 after the 10:00 online worship service, via Zoom

The members of Vine and Branches invite you to study the books of Jeremiah and Lamentations this fall. We’ll look at the urban prophet Jeremiah and his timely messages to us. We’ll be using Jeremiah and Lamentations, part of the Genesis to Revelation book series, by Barbara Ferguson (Abingdon Press  ISBN   1501855727).  His message resonates with us today. As one author wrote, “Jeremiah found himself addressing a nation hurtling headlong toward judgment from God. The Israelites may have feared the future as the outside powers drew near, but rather than respond with humility and repentance, the people of Judah primarily lived as islands unto themselves, disregarding both the Lord’s commandments and the increasing danger that resulted from their disobedience.“

Each Sunday after the 10:00 service, Vine and Branches studies a book of the Bible via Zoom, sent by Dr. Denzil Edge (Denny). If you don’t do Zoom, you can call in. If you Zoom, please do. We can help you with the technology!

This is an active class. Members participate by studying the scripture and book and having lively discussion. Want to try us out? Contact Denny Edge at 417-5652 or dedge@denziledge.com or Gail or Ed Henson at 451-6010, grhenson@gmail.com, or EdHenson1@bellsouth.net. Students order their own books from Cokesbury, Christianbook, or Amazon, or we can order them for you! Participants generally use other commentaries as well, to prepare.
