Announcing a New Team!

JOIN A NEW TEAM Every child of God possesses a particular gift that has the potential to increase the joy and hope in the world. The ministry and mission at St. Paul does not happen through the efforts of a single person, but instead through many people serving on many teams. Every worship service, every youth group, every dinner is a result of many spirit-filled individuals combining their gifts and working together in order to further develop God’s kingdom. We invite everyone…

Where Do We Help?

WHERE DO WE HELP? By Angela Brooks, Director of Community Outreach I feel like I am on a merry-go-round and I can’t find one thing to focus on to get my bearings. Charlottesville, Harvey, Irma, the list seems to expand every day. I was confused and overwhelmed two months before all of our nation’s most recent tragedies occurred. Where do we help? How do we help? How do I not sit in the fetal position and hope for it all to…

Restorative Justice

RESTORATIVE JUSTICE by Angela Brooks, Director of Community Outreach  When a juvenile crime happens it can bring harm. Far too often it can be the beginning of a negative cycle of repetitive, destructive action. Restorative Justice Louisville, Inc (RJL) understands that the criminal justice system can provide a lot of resources to respond to juvenile crime, but by providing additional support they can help prevent a hopeless cycle. The St. Paul Justice Team will fund a Restorative Justice facilitator training…

This Is Where You Belong

This Is Where You Belong written by Nicole Farmer, Administrative Coordinator Have you ever wondered if you really belong? Maybe it was in a certain social setting, at work, in school, or perhaps even in your own family. Sometimes that sense of rejection seems like it just won’t let go. Whether or not you were actually an orphan growing up in a grueling foster care system, it’s possible to have an orphan mindset. It’s like carrying a heavy burden of…

St. Paul Serves

St. Paul Serves By Angela Brooks, Director of Community Outreach Over 2,000 years ago, Paul instructs his student that he is to teach other Christians that: They are to do good, to be rich in good works, generous, and ready to share.” 1 Timothy 6:18 They are to do good, to be rich in good works, generous, and ready to share.” 1 TIMOTHY 6:18 Paul’s instructions include no exceptions on generosity. He does not follow up his lesson with, “but,…

We Believe

We Believe by Jim Rittenhouse, Associate Director of Music Ministries “We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal…” These immortal words of Thomas Jefferson indelibly carved into the soul of our nation have been the cornerstone of so much of our public and private belief systems. This is a given – this is something we can all agree to hold dear, the baseline of who we are as a nation, and a bedrock of what we…

Where Do We Go?

Where Do We Go? by Rev. David Garvin, Executive Pastor Take a moment. Catch your breath. Experience God’s peace. What an amazing Lent and Easter season at St. Paul Church. The first quarter of 2017 was full of amazing ministries and overwhelming generosity that transformed many lives. So, where do we go from here? What is in store for St. Paul during the remainder of 2017? Like always, over the coming months, we’ll plan and carry out long-standing ministries for…

Star Word: Plan

Star Word: Plan by Carl Helmich, St. Paul Member Christians have a glorious inheritance in the faith passed down to us, but we still have to discover it for ourselves before we can truly possess it and pass it on. We believe that God has chosen every one of us−for service, not privilege. God has a plan or purpose for each of us to fulfill, and he will work with us if we give him our cooperation. Several moral and…
